I was not aware that I was the father of an 11-year-old girl until MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry displayed the merits of the sociology degree I have no doubt she possesses and informed America that everybody’s child belongs to the community and not to the parents of that child.

“We haven’t had a very collective notion of ‘these are our children,’” philosophized Harris-Perry in one of MSNBC’s masturbatory “Lean Forward” TV spots. “So part of it is we have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents, or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities.”

In a nutshell, I am the proud father of Parker Lacewell, the daughter of Melissa Harris-Perry. [Public information.]

It came as a surprise to me, of course, for I am not yet married, nor am I sexually active–and I certainly wasn’t sexually active 11 years ago at the age of 14; my parents weren’t Democrats. Because I was only just made aware of my offspring’s existence, naturally I haven’t been paying child support, and I have to say, I don’t appreciate being made an unwilling deadbeat dad by Harris-Perry. If she had just told me 11 years ago that her daughter was mine as well, I would have done my best to help raise the little tyke. It saddens me; I always intended to be a better father than mine was, and Harris-Perry has rendered me a failure in that regard.

My daughter was born in 2002, according to the Internet. What a great shame that I only know my daughter’s birthday because of a simple Internet search. And not even the date of her birth, but only the year!

I don’t even know what race my daughter is. Harris-Perry is Mulatto, like Obama, but, also like Obama, she prefers not to acknowledge her white half, saying once, “I’ve never thought of myself as biracial. I’m black.” So what race was my daughter’s co-father?

And who knows what religion my daughter has been raised under? Harris-Perry’s mother was a Mormon at one point, but then converted to Unitarianism, which is the religion Harris-Perry now subscribes to. Unitarians are the ones who teach that if you believe something is true, then it is true. Which perhaps explains why Harris-Perry is comfortable to dismiss half her bloodline and declare that she is black, plain and simple. If she believes it, it is true, biology be damned.

Starting today, I am going to make it my goal to get to know my daughter Parker. But first I have to ask Harris-Perry what school she sends our kid to so that I know where to pick her up and start what I hope will be a beautiful father-daughter relationship. Hopefully she hasn’t had her head filled with too much from the Communist Manifesto with which her mother is so familiar and to which she so obviously adheres.

which "properties" are these?... supposedly, they can't ascribe a "basic value" to their own life, therefore cannot be a "loss" should that life be deprived... i believe that even a fetus recognizes a "basic value", or why else would there be a pain response?

Merely being human is not in itself a reason for ascribing someone a right to life.

so, what are they saying?... we can ascribe rights as we see fit?... well, what if i say we grant personhood at age 18?... can i abort my teenager?

However, whereas you can benefit someone by bringing her into existence (if her life is worth living), it makes no sense to say that someone is harmed by being prevented from becoming an actual person. The reason is that, by virtue of our definition of the concept of ‘harm’ in the previous section, in order for a harm to occur, it is necessary that someone is in the condition of experiencing that harm.

nice trick, that... redefine the term harm into something that agrees with your argument... how many times have we seen this tactic?

If criteria such as the costs (social, psychological, economic) for the potential parents are good enough reasons for having an abortion even when the fetus is healthy, if the moral status of the newborn is the same as that of the infant and if neither has any moral value by virtue of being a potential person, then the same reasons which justify abortion should also justify the killing of the potential person when it is at the stage of a newborn.

so... if, as a parent, my child becomes a burden (or a punishment, as President Obama calls them), such that i believe the social, psychological, or economic cost is too great, then i have the right to dispose of them?... this will change my kid's Christmas lists, dramatically!

to all the Pro-Choice people... is this what you wanted?... because this is the natural course for the ethics you support... if such a basic right as life can be granted on such a subjective basis, what right do you have to say someone can't abort a child when it becomes a burden to the parent?

follow this thought down the rabbit-hole, and humans only have the right to life as those around them see fit... cancer patients are a burden to healthcare... elderly have outlived their useful life... children are not persons, but property... the mentally retarded have less rights than "normal" people... if someone is in an accident and gets brain damaged, should we just kill them outright before they inconvenience anyone?

looks pretty benign, doesn't it?... but look at the wreckage it leaves behind:

so, sodomy with a child is no longer "child abuse"?... what kind of monster requests that be stricken from the law?... and why remove indecent assault and "liberties with a child" from the language?

Any person subject to this chapter who, without justification or excuse, unlawfully kills a human being, when he—
(1) has a premeditated design to kill;
(2) intends to kill or inflict great bodily harm;

(4) is engaged in the perpetration or attempted perpetration of burglary, sodomy, rape, rape of a child, aggravated sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault of a child, aggravated sexual contact, aggravated sexual abuse of a child, aggravated sexual contact with a child, robbery, or aggravated arson; is guilty of murder, and shall suffer such punishment as a court-martial may direct, except that if found guilty under clause (1) or (4), he shall suffer death or imprisonment for life as a court-martial may direct.

so, if you kill someone to cover up the sexual abuse of a child, it is no longer considered murder... oh, i know it's still a crime... but it isn't murder... it doesn't carry the same penalties any more... we've taken away an important measure of safety for our children... what's next?

(a) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense.

I’m utterly speechless right now. I don’t know where to start.

Just a couple minutes ago the words of 22 year old cop had been thrown at me for a long ass time. My Mother had called a cop in for some reason. Who knows why I don’t even care anymore. Screw it. I pretty much remember exactly what this dude said.

We sat down. Dude never met me but he understood me 100%. Lectured me just about everything about my life. He told me, “I know you think Highschool is shit. I know you just want to leave the place, but let me tell you. This right here is the best time of your life. You may just want to graduate out of Highschool and go to college but bro. You have no idea how much I envy you. I miss Highschool bro, I miss going through the Hallways and doing that hand shake thing with my friends, I miss doing all that crazy shit, that youth. All you kids just throw it away. If someone had told me that during my Highschool career that it was the best time of my entire life. I would have cherished it that much more. I regret not joking around in class, getting detentions. Man I regret not getting more detentions then I did. I miss screwing around.” He said.

His radio went off. He told me to listen to the radio and the emergency that was being dispersed. It was something about a grandma on the floor with 3 children in the residence. Violence outbreaking in the household etc….  He then told me. “You have no idea how lucky you have it. Look behind you. Your mom brought you a widescreen plasma TV. You have this nice computer. He made me realize so much. It’s almost like. I hate to say it. Like fate. I fucking needed this talk. Nobody else could put it the way this guy does. And he wasn’t even done.

The Simplicity of Being Young

sometimes (actually, ALL the time) it's easier to be young... when you're a child/teen/adolescent, some adult is always looking out for you... in rare cases of neglect, this may not be true... but in general terms, someone has your best interest in mind... be it parent or teacher or pastor, someone is protecting the youth from harm... sometimes, we even have to protect them from themselves.

often (actually, ALL the time) youth don't appreciate what has been done for them... and when they become an adult, they are surprised at all the dangers which "suddenly" face them on a daily basis... but it's not that the dangers are new... it's that the danger is new to them.

i just read an example of this... it's a "friend of a friend of a friend" situation, so there's no need for names.

this young man (i.e. new adult, 20-something) contracted a viral infection... being young, he just felt tired... he wore out more easily than he did the week before... so he drank more caffeine and moved on... shortly thereafter, he was exposed to (what he was told was) "black mold", which can be toxic and cause several health issues... to combat this, he used "Broncaid", which is a medicine to ease and relieve shortness of breath and coughing associated with bronchial asthma... he also moved from coffee and soda to energy drinks, like Red Bull... while all of this got him through the day, it didn't solve the problem... so, thinking if a little does a little good, then a lot must do a lot of good, he took a couple extra Broncaids, along with his Red Bulls... about five Red Bulls.

he woke up in the hospital, where apparently, he flatlined (i.e. died) at least once.

so, if an adult (i.e. parent, teacher, pastor, police officer, crossing guard, etc.) doesn't let a child do something that they want (i.e. stay up late, drink energy drinks, eat sweets, drive across state lines, see R-rated movies, etc.), it is generally for the good of the child.

when this young man has a child (thus, becoming the defacto adult), you can bet the experience gained will frustrate his child... his child will probably want to stay up late, drink energy drinks, and take cold medicine... and the adult will say, "No, no, and no".

and his child will mutter under its breath how stupid adults are... but maybe, just maybe, they won't end up in the hospital on a ventilator.
