Schadenfreude is not a german dog breed

I know most of you think I follow politics WAY too much. But what I do is research items I hear in the news, usually making me mad that the news was not entirely truthful. What I don't do is watch politics and politicians.

But today, at lunch, I turned on the television, and it happened to be on a channel carrying Trump's press conference. And I was actually enthralled. Not because I'm some devotee of his, but because what I saw was the press trying their best to hurt the President of the United States. Even more, I saw Trump deftly parrying each thrust and turning the dagger back on the press.

The press wants to know if Trump is working with Russia, but in the same breath wants to know if he is going to address Russia's overt hostile acts. (How can they be hostile and cooperative?)

So Trump tells them that being friendly with a foreign country is not a bad thing. And then he turned the blade. Why, he asked, was the press fawning over Hillary's failed "Russian Reset" (complete with fake plastic button)? Why did the press say nothing when Hillary arranged a deal to provide uranium by the ton to Russia?

Why are they against working with Russia only now?

I couldn't look away. It was like watching a street thug take on an MMA fighter. It was almost unfair.

To paraphrase Sidney Morgenbesser, it was unfair because he beat them over the head but not unjust because he beat ALL of them over the head.

lying liars lie

we expect politicians to "stretch the truth"... okay, they lie... we know that... but to make up a lie, get caught, then lie about the lie, get caught again, and finally dismiss it as if it weren't important... that takes some brass nuts of epic proportions.

for instance:
ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz... also heads up the Democratic National Committee. [I] just want to show you some of the fund-raising letter that she sent out this week. [It says], "Their party just voted to embrace Akin's position by including a constitutional ban on all abortions even in cases of rape or incest in their 2012 platform."
"But guess what? 'The Los Angeles Times' reported yesterday that the platform was, and I quote, 'written at the direction of Romney's campaign.'"

(emphasis added)
so, according to the DNC and Chairwoman Schultz, the Romney campaign (and therefore, Mitt Romney, himself) supports banning all abortions, no matter the circumstances... and the DNC surely wouldn't decieve, prevaricate, exagerate, fabricate, or even lie... would they?
[T]hat quote was taken completely out of context. It was ripped in fact out of a sentence. If you put it back into that sentence, here's what it looks like -- quote -- this is from "The L.A. Times." "Delegates for presumptive nominee Mitt Romney are voting down substantive changes to the platform language that were written at the direction of Romney's campaign." So the DNC letter takes the last eight words out of that sentence, using it to suggest something that full sentence obviously does not suggest.
(emphasis added)
what?... they took eight words out of a completely different sentance and applied it to an entirely different idea... not even specific to abortion; just relative to the RNC platform as a whole.
well, they're caught... nothing to do but apologize... maybe say it was a typographical error... but surely they wouldn't lie again?
COOPER: You do acknowledge that Mitt Romney supports abortion in the cases of rape, incest and the life of the mother, don't you?

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: Mitt Romney's words are very nice, but the bottom line is that Romney's campaign just directed the Republican Party platform to include the most restrictive constitutional amendment... even in the case of rape or incest.

COOPER: Do you at least acknowledge that the quote that you gave from "The L.A. Times" is completely incorrect?

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: Anderson, what I'm saying is, it doesn't matter.
lie... called out... lie again... called out... "it doesn't matter."

oh, but had it been a Republican, it would have mattered then... it must only be okay to lie if you're a liberal.

i'd call Debbie Wasserman Schultz a liar and a liberal, but i'd be repeating myself.

and kudos to Anderson Cooper of CNN for pointing out the lie... finally something "fair" if not balanced.

Rover for Romney

Voter-registration forms being mailed to Virginia residents are addressed to dead relatives, children, family members in other states, non-U.S. citizens, people with similar names, existing registered voters and residents' cats and dogs.

The errant forms are among tens of thousands being distributed in Virginia by a national voter-registration group that pre-populates the documents with key information, including names and addresses of prospective voters.

The mailings have become a source of confusion among many who receive them and are creating headaches for local registrar offices, which must spend time in a busy presidential election year investigating which of the forms are legitimate.

The mailings also can create opportunities for voter fraud, election officials say.

Although some of the mailings have gone to Virginia residents who are already registered — causing confusion about their voting eligibility — state election officials are more concerned about ineligible people receiving the forms, such as felons, non-citizens and "non-humans," said Justin Riemer, the state Board of Elections' deputy secretary.

Riemer provided these examples:

An application was sent to an 8-month-old child several months after the infant died.
A mother received an application for a daughter who has never lived in Virginia.
A wife received an application for her dead husband.
A non-citizen received an application.
A resident received an application for his mother, who died in 1988 and never lived at the Virginia address where the mailing was sent.
State election officials aren't sure how many of the 5 million registration forms distributed across the country by the Voter Participation Center have made it to Virginia.

a rush to judgement - Re-blog

Condemnation of conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh driven by the left-wing media was swift and feverish. Outrageous is how they described one of Mr. Limbaugh’s signature humorous observations about left-wing absurdity, for which he has since apologized.

Mr. Limbaugh’s remarks were prompted by the appearance of 30-year old Georgetown University law student and liberal political activist Sandra Fluke as a witness before an unofficial hearing convened by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Ms. Fluke complained that the student health program of Roman Catholic Georgetown University did not provide contraception for her, forcing her to pay $1,000 per year for contraception.

Considering that birth control pills cost as little as $9 per month ($108 per year) from pharmacies at Target stores, Mr. Limbaugh surmised that the only way Ms. Fluke could spend $1,000 per year was to buy condoms, which costs around 55 cents each, and purchase enough to use five condoms each day of the year (365 X 5 = 1,825). To illustrate the absurdity of Ms. Fluke’s claims, Mr. Limbaugh humorously observed that the only women who are having sex five times a day, 365 days per year typically were called either prostitutes or sluts.

Notably, poor people get birth control through Medicaid from the federal government. An additional $300 million is spent by the federal government to provide contraceptives to low-income and uninsured people who can’t qualify for Medicaid. This spending to help poor women was supported even when Republicans controlled the White House and both houses of Congress.

The above facts about the ready availability of inexpensive contraceptives show clearly that Ms. Fluke’s testimony was based on falsehoods. Plus, her record as a reproductive rights activist demonstrates that, instead of being promiscuous, she is in reality waging a war against Roman Catholic Georgetown University in particular and religion in general.

An even more amazing observation is the fact that Ms. Fluke’s appeal for government help runs counter to the mantra that women want the government to stay out of private decisions about their bodies.

Lost in the media-generated brouhaha ginned up by Democrats and their media allies to paint Republicans as engaging in a “war on women” are the two real issues.

One concern is whether President Barack Obama can violate the First Amendment to our Constitution that guarantees freedom of religion and force religious organizations to pay for something that violates their moral conscience.

The other issue is whether Mr. Obama can force private insurance companies to cover certain procedures or medications. If the answer to either or both of these questions is yes, then we no longer live in a country governed for the people by our elected representatives. Instead, our nation has been changed into a socialist dictatorship and we are living under the tyranny of Mr. Obama who governing by executive fiat, not restrained by our Constitution, the law of our land.

In their rush (pun intended) to discredit Mr. Limbaugh, liberal journalists either fail to mention or downplay the above two important Constitutional issues, but are quick to display rank hypocrisy with their righteous indignation over name-calling.

There was the sound of silence from the left-wing press when a black Republican woman and congressional candidate, Charlotte Bergmann, was called a “token negro”, "stupid" and a "curly-haired nigga" to her face by Democrat liberal talk show host and DJ Thaddeus Matthews while Ms. Bergmann was a guest on his show. If ever there was a show of wanton vulgarity and cruelty, this was it. The article “Outrage subdued after DJ goes on racially charged rant on GOP congressional candidate” by Judson Berger can be found on the Internet.

A video of the actual trashing of Ms. Bergmann by Mr. Matthews can be seen on YouTube.

An article with further evidence of how Democrats conduct a “war on black Republicans”, using vile and reprehensible personal attacks because we do not toe the liberal agenda line, calling us “sellouts”, “Uncle Toms” and “House Negroes” is posted on the NBRA website.

One of those racist cartoons demeaning Dr. Condoleezza Rice was published in The Washington Post. Will the editorial board of the Washington Post ever apologize in the name of civility and for the good of our American political culture?

Will the liberal press demand that Democrats in Congress denounce Mr. Thaddeus and repudiate the racist attack on a citizen who is seeking to become an elected representative of the people? Will President Obama make a supportive call to Ms. Bergmann?

President Obama, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Senate Leader Harry Reid and others Democratic Party leaders need to say without equivocation that such gutter rhetoric uttered by Mr. Matthews and other Democrats against black Republicans has no place in their party or in our American political discourse.

Further, when will the Democratic Party issue the long overdue apology to black Americans for that party’s nearly 200 years of racism? Not one liberal journalist bothered to give press coverage to the historic occasion when Rev. Wayne Perryman sued the Democratic Party, requesting such an apology, but the Democratic Party hired an army of lawyers to defend their racist past; thereby, avoiding doing the right thing and issuing an apology. An article about the lawsuit can be found on the Internet.

As author Michael Scheuer wrote, the Democratic Party is the party of the four S’s: slavery, secession, segregation and now socialism. In his book, “Dreams From My Father”, President Obama described what he and other Democrats do to poor blacks as “plantation politics”. Details are contained in our NBRA Civil Rights Newsletter that is posted on our website.

In spite of Mr. Limbaugh’s apology, seven of his sponsors have withdrawn their advertisements, playing into the blacklisting game of the far left, the same strategy that liberals used to get Mr. Ronald Reagan removed by CBS as the host of the “General Electric Theater” in 1962 because he criticized President John F. Kennedy. In his article ”Rally for Rush” Jeffrey Lord exposes how the seven companies who pulled their ads from Mr. Limbaugh’s program are connected to far left-wing groups funded by George Soros, including MoveOn.org, America Coming Together and Democracy for America.

Lord wrote: “They exploit race and gender to try and destroy First Amendment protections. People who support a philosophy long on record as supporting every racial gambit from slavery, segregation, lynching and the Ku Klux Klan right on through to the violation of voting rights by the Black Panthers, racial quotas and illegal immigration have no scruples.”

The supposed desire for civility expressed by the liberal media would be credible if journalists placed as much emphasis on holding Democrats accountable for their overt racism toward black Republicans. Also, our country would be saved from being turned into a failed socialist nation by President Obama if the liberal press devoted as much time trying to stop him from shredding our Constitution as they spend trying to silence a talk show host who has no power to deny Americans anything, Constitutional or otherwise.

no news is good news

U.S. District Judge George B. Daniels ruled on December 15, 2011, that Iran and Hezbollah "materially and directly supported Al Qaeda in the September 11, 2001 attacks, and are legally responsible for damages to hundreds of family members of 9/11 victims who are plaintiffs in the case."

isn't this news?... try searching this on Google... i found two sources; one was the Canada Free Press, and the other was from Brunei!

a US District judge just found that a sovereign nation is legally responsible for the attacks on 9/11, and there isn't a hint or peep out of ANY major media group... this is astounding.

"no right to profits" - Obama

You don't have some inherent right just to-- you know, get a certain amount of profit. If your customers-- are being mistreated. That you have to treat them fairly and transparently.
- President Barack Obama

what a suprise... business owners aren't allowed to set their own prices and profits... customers are being "mistreated"... because in a capitalist society, people are forced to buy products.

that was suposed to be sarcasm, but i forgot we're being forced to purchase health insurance.

Tea Party and their guns

The Secret Service searched Occupy D.C. on Monday for a man suspected of firing bullets at the White House on Friday

let's ask the obvious question: "What if this was a Tea Party rally?"... the media has been very lackadaisical about the fact that bullets hit the White House... with arrests at the Occupy DC site including assault and drug possession, and now gun shots, when does the media call for the disbanding of Occupy DC?... when do they begin the disparaging remarks, like they did during the Town Hall meetings?... i'm looking for something like "clinging to their guns and drugs".

So it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them... or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
- Barack Obama, April 6, 2008
all you have to do is replace "religion" with "drugs", and you have a new slander... maybe throw in some comment about their anarchist political motivations... but i'll leave the defamation to the professionals.

if at first you don't succeed, pass another stimulus

Solyndra filed for bankruptcy last week, shocking both workers and the Obama administration, which had given the startup $535 million in low interest loans.
FBI at Solyndra Headquarters | NBC Bay Area

"President Barack Obama, with Solyndra Chief Executive Officer Chris Gronet, [look] at a solar panel, during a tour of Solyndra, Inc., a solar panel manufacturing facility, in Fremont, Calif. Solyndra received a $535 million loan from the U.S. government has announced layoffs of 1,100 workers and plans to file for bankruptcy." (WaPo)

The FBI raided Solyndra this morning. The Top Obama bundler George Kaiser, a principle investor in Solyndra, made multiple visits to the White House in the months before the company was granted a $535 million loan from the government.

They went to the wrong address.
They should have raided the White House.

anti-bullying promotes murder

keeping it classy... Dan Savage, of the well publicised "It Gets Better" campaign, has a problem with bullying... i mean, Dan is a bully... suprised?... me too.

but apparently, this is nothing new... he has a long-standing quarrel with Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA)... so great is his hatred, he has resorted to cyber-bullying the man... there is an entire website devoted to defining the Senator's last name as, well, something disgusting... skip the quote if you prefer.
Santorum: (n) The frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex
you were warned.

well, Dan Savage has decided to air some more grievances on the Bill Maher show (which is the usual repository for this kind of behavior)... but Savage took it to new lows; even for Maher... Dan Savage has decided that he wishes all Republicans were "f--kin' dead"... really?... this is the same guy who says:
Everyone deserves to be respected for who they are.

everyone, except Republicans, that is...

but, in typical Liberal fashion, Dan Savage seems to think if you apologize for something, it's okay:
It was a stupid, rude, thoughtless remark. I regret it and I retract it and I apologize to anyone watching.

well, it's not okay... that is not something which should be tolerated... and to come from someone who preaches tolerance, it is even more unacceptable... and to compound the problem, the mainstream media will give him a pass; one that they give no one else... and the apology is false, too... if he meant it, he'd take down that horrible, cyber-bullying website about Santorum... but he doesn't mean it... he is just saying it... non meus culpa... what a liar.

this jerk has started a movement to help the helpless, and for that he should be commended... but for his own hate-speech, he should be publicly condemned by those within the "It Gets Better" movement, as well as the LGBT community, as a whole.

flake vs flake

a rebuttal from Mark Levin and Jeffrey Lord to George Stephanopolous's column. John Quincy Adams a Founding Father? Michele Bachmann Says Yes...

by Mark Levin on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 9:51am: "George Stephanopolous: Flake"
George Stephanopolous has revealed his own flakiness and ignorance in his effort to pile on Michele Bachmann.

The fact is that a number of prominent Founders did attempt to end or at least take on the issue of slavery, including Virginia's George Mason, who was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention. The inability to end slavery was among the reasons he refused to support the Constitution. While he was a slave-owner, he nonetheless opposed the institution going forward. Mason was no light-weight, either. He had authored the Virginia Declaration of Rights, which later served as the basis for James Madison's draft of the Bill of Rights.

Thomas Jefferson's first draft of the Declaration specifically condemned the treatment of blacks by the Crown as a basis for America declaring its independent from Britain.

Importantly, the final draft of the Declaration that was adopted by all the states contained the crucial recognition of God-given unalienable rights that belonged to all human beings. The phrase was borrowed by Jefferson from philosopher John Locke, who was anti-slave.

By Jeffrey Lord on 6.28.11 @ 1:38PM - The American Spectator: "Levin: Stephanopoulos Is Foolish in Lecturing Bachmann"
"[A] French observer wrote that [James] Madison, "a young man (who)... astonishes…by his eloquence, his wisdom, and his genius, has had the humanity and courage (for such a proposition requires no small share of courage) to propose a general emancipation of the slaves." - James Madison, by biographer, Ralph Ketcham

'Hamilton became a prime mover in the early abolitionist group. He pressured the (New York) state legislature and helped to raise money to buy and free slaves. The society's founders…elected Hamilton chairman to draw up recommendations for "a line of conduct" for any "members who still possessed slaves." He also established a registry for manumitted slaves, listing their names and ages, "to detect attempts to deprive such manumitted persons of their liberty."' - Alexander Hamilton: A Life, by biographer Willard Sterne Randall

personally, i think they're both (George and Michelle) a bit flaky... i want news from my journalists... and i want legislation from congressmen(women)... journalists should know how to research and interview... congressmen should know law and history... it's clear that neither of these people can do their jobs.

no news is never good news

Book: Liberal Media Distorts News Bias - Washington Whispers (usnews.com):
"The problem, I believe, is that such commentators mistake relative bias for absolute bias. Yes, the Drudge Report is more conservative than the average U.S. news outlet. But it is a logical mistake to use that to infer that it is based on an absolute scale." - UCLA political science professor Tim Groseclose in his book Left Turn

Perhaps the most useful part of his book is the slant ratings of the media. The numbers are based on a conservative-to-liberal 0-100 rating, with 50 being centrist:

New York Times-73.7.
CBS Evening News-73.7.
NPR Morning Edition-66.3.
U.S. News & World Report-65.8.
Drudge Report-60.4.
ABC Good Morning America-56.1.
Washington Times-35.4.

quiet on the left

i really hate getting my news from the Conservative media... places like HotAir.com and FoxNews give you an obvious slant... but when main-stream refuses to report news, what else is there?... like when NOW supports misogyny:

Women Dems turned on by Rep. Anthony Weiner's politics are disgusted by his sexting antics
"I wasn't happy to discover that my congressman is a 14-year-old boy, but he happens to be one of the best politicians out there, so we're in a bad position. We're trying to give him the benefit of the doubt." - Julie Kirshner, president of the Brooklyn NOW chapter
i'd really like to find some other sources talking about this... so sad that MSNBC, CNN, and the rest of the networks just turn a blind-eye... just like when NOW supported Clinton and his extra-marital affairs while President.

two words - Chris Lee

Anthony Weiner Admits Sending Racy Pictures, Refuses To Resign

i hear "libs" say Weiner shouldn't resign... that's BS... if it had been a conservative, the same people would lust for his blood!... several have resigned in shame over the years... but, somehow, if you're a liberal, you are not held to the same standard.

one of the arguments is, "conservatives are hypocrites, claiming they run on platforms of family values; while liberals don't claim this, so aren't held to that standard"... so, if i run on a platform of anti-baby-rape, and you don't, then it's by default okay for you to rape babies... that's not just illogical, it's plain stupid.

let's accept the "hypocrisy" argument... does it really make this right?... of course not... one thing that makes this so wrong is it calls to question the man's judgement... can we expect this person to make the right decisions in the legislature when he makes poor decisions in his personal life?

but, this isn't the worst of it... what are the implications of a Congressman making these poor decisions and a foreign entity finds out about it?... and what happens when that entity then blackmails the Congressman for certain favors or access?... for example, if John Edwards had won the Presidency a few years ago, only to have his extra-marital affair to be disovered by a Mexican drug cartel?... would a bill which increased Border Patrol funding ever get past his desk?... can you think of worse scenarios?... i know i can.

the point is simple... it doesn't matter what your political affiliation, your philosophy, or your platform... when you are given power as a representative of the people, what you do in your private life matters.

And talk about an ad that's over the edge, literally. A liberal group has produced [ad plays onscreen.] Oh, there you see it, not holding back on that one. [Laughs.] Throwing grandma or- that's- I think it is supposed to be Paul Ryan pushing the wheelchair with grandma over the edge. That's in the Sideshow. We will show you the full ad.
Finally, grandma gets thrown off the cliff. A liberal group called The Agenda Project has just released an ad wacking at Paul Ryan's to privatize Medicare. Subtle? This ad is not.
Boy, I love the point of view on that one as she tries to slow down with her feet.

where is the OUTRAGE?

The Associated Press: Ugandan lawmakers hold hearings on anti-gay bill

Bahati's original bill carried harsh provisions. The original bill would mandate a death sentence for active homosexuals living with HIV or in cases of same-sex rape. "Serial offenders" also would face capital punishment. Anyone convicted of a homosexual act would face life imprisonment.

Anyone who "aids, abets, counsels or procures another to engage of acts of homosexuality" would face seven years in prison. Landlords who rent rooms or homes to homosexuals also could get seven years.

while i don't support "casual homosexuals" (people who decide to be gay, as opposed to those who are genetically gay), the above story should be front page news worldwide!

i shouldn't be suprised, since every other story coming out of Africa is whitewashed and sanitized... we don't hear about the muslims who are murdering christians... we don't hear about tribal genocides... we don't hear about ritualized rape... we don't hear about pirates (unless they pirate a rich American's yacht)... we don't hear about the starvation and suffering of millions... so why should i be suprised that we don't hear about homosexual genocide?

this sickens me.

this enrages me.

i feel so helpless to do anything about it.

when we need liberal outrage, where are the voices from the left?... where are the Democrats?... where is Obama?... we launched missles into Libya to protect violent protesters... where are the missles to protect the unarmed and the helpless in Uganda?

Friday, February 18, 2011

where's the moral outrage now?

why don't i see news reports about this?... didn't we all agree that this kind of "violent rhetoric" was wrong?... why is my television mysteriously silent on the moral outrage that the Left must have for, well, the Left?

it wasn't that long ago that we heard the following:
  1. “Imagine just a few years ago had somebody walked around with images of Hitler,” says Robert Gibbs, the former White House press secretary.
  2. Eugene Robinson, “Violent political rhetoric and the threat of political violence in this country comes almost exclusively from the right.”
  3. Bill Maher, “the right wing loves, the go-to rhetoric for them is ‘wouldn’t it be fun to kill the people we disagree with.’ Left wingers don’t talk that way.”
and yet, in Wisconsin, there are protests which include rhetoric such as this:
  • Scott Walker = Adolf Hitler.
  • Midwest Mussolini.
  • Hosini Walker.
  • Raping public employees is not the way to balance a budget.
  • Don’t retreat. Reload. Repeal Walker.
  • Death to Tyrants [pictures of Mr. Walker and Mr. Mubarak]

this is a tangled web, but the current problems in Egypt seems to have far-reaching results... and some history of the region seems to indicate the scope of these results... this tangled skein of events has strands stretching from World War II, the attacks on the World Trade Center, the "relief" flotilla of Gaza, Tunisia, the US, and now the overthrow of Egypt... how big is this event?

The Pits: Kucinich Sues Over Olive

The wrap was "unwholesome and unfit for human consumption, in that it was represented to contain pitted olives, yet unknown to plaintiff contained an unpitted olive."

this is the kind of self-serving and idiotic people who gave us "Obamacare"... apparently he seems to think that he sustained $150,000 in damages from biting into an olive pit... apparently it was so bad, that he gave a speech from the floor of the House a mere five days later... check my math, but that's $30,000 a day!... for that money, he could have pulled ALL of his teeth, and replaced them!

next time, Dennis... don't bite it... choke on it... maybe that will be worth the money.
